Students will be introduced to the essential knowledge and abilities they need to engage actively and effectively as an academic learner. Participation in the subject includes developing personal study skills and academic writing techniques.
Learning Outcomes
- identify and apply personal study methods;
- examine and develop academic writing skills in note-taking, reading, writing and introductory research skills;
- develop strategies for examinations;
- recognise and enhance skills in oral presentations, and listening;
- identify and reference correctly as per academic conventions.
Graduate Qualities
- The ability to adapt knowledge to new situations;
- The ability to reflect on and evaluate learning, and to learn independently in a self directed manner.
