<p>This subject introduces the regulatory systems in cells and organisms as well as forming the basis for pharmacology.</p>

<li>intracellular regulation and secondary messenger systems; </li>
<li>the different modes of communication between cells within an organism; </li>
<li>the pathways for the synthesis, release and recycling of chemical messengers; </li>
<li>the role of cell-surface receptors and gated ion channels in transmembrane signalling; </li>
<li>the role of enzymes in cellular regulation. </li>
