Available to postgraduate students in the School of Marine and Tropical Biology, who have been approved to do the research option.
Candidates will prepare a literature review, the topic should be pertinent to their minor project and selected in consultation with suspervisor(s) and/or the course coordinator. The review should be a critical appraisal of the objectives, methodologies and results of previous research relating to the topic.
Learning Outcomes
- to develop the practical skills required for carrying out a research project;
- to enhance knowledge and understanding of a specified area of biology;
- to gain experience in problem-solving and scientific decision-making;
- to acquire proficiency in literature evaluation and/or data collection and analysis;
- to develop skills in preparing and presenting written technical reports.

Assumed Knowledge: | Students enrolling in this subject should have an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (eg marine biology, biology or aquaculture) or have acquired equivalent knowledge through other study or industry experience. They should have an excellent understanding of science subjects including basic biology, chemistry, aquaculture and statistics. |
