Introduction to the diversity of animal life including form, function, behaviour, classification and evolution. Includes laboratory studies and fieldwork.
Learning Outcomes
- develop the vital basic knowledge required for understanding scientific principles of animal biology and their application in more advanced and specialised studies;
- acquire hands-on practical skills in zoology; to acquire proficiency in observation, recording, evaluation and reporting of scientific information;
- acquire proficiency in observation, recording, evaluation and reporting of scientific information;
- gain experience in scientific problem-solving and decision-making;
- acquire an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of the foundation sciences on which the activities of veterinarians are based, the structure and function of healthy animals, and aspects of their husbandry.

Assumed Knowledge: | Students enrolling in this subject should have a good understanding of Chemistry, Mathematics and English to Grade 12 (Queensland) or equivalent. |
