This subject reviews the environmental and biological factors that influence health and rehabilitation, in the context of chronic health disorders. Topics will include the role of psychologists in prevention and rehabilitation for common chronic diseases and a focus on assessment, diagnosis and intervention for eating disorders and sexual dysfunction.

Learning Outcomes

• familiarity with principles of rehabilitation of physical and behavioural disorders;
• basic skills in addressing the process of adaptation to physical problems using psychological methods;
• develop knowledge and skills of the different methodologies used to evaluate health disorders;
• understanding of the biological, environmental and psychosocial influences in the development of psychological problems associated with chronic health disorders.
