Hydraulics and pneumatics: pneumatic and hydraulic circuits, pumps, linear and rotary actuators, directional, flow and pressure control valves, analysis of hydraulic systems, and introduction to servosystems. Measurement and instrumentations systems: data acquisition, analogue-to-digital conversion, signal conditioning and analysis, transducer types and characteristics for the measurement of force, stress and strain, acceleration, vibration, temperature, heat and fluid flow. Design project: applying pneumatics and programmable logic controllers in modern automated manufacturing systems.
