Common Engineering Materials: Properties of materials; nature of metal and alloys; equilibrium diagrams and the iron-carbon system; ferrous metals and alloys; nonferrous metals and alloys; heat treatment; non metallic materials: plastics, elastomer, ceramics and composites; materials selection.Measurement and Quality Assurance: principles of basic measurement and gauging; sources of error; surface roughness measurement; analysis of tolerances.Manufacturing Processes: casting processes; forming processes; materials removal processes; joining processes; CAD/CAM.
