This subject examines contested meanings of sustainability; integrated models of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and cultural); the growth of the sustainability movement; ethics and multi-value choices; sustainability and organisational strategies; measuring sustainability (metrics and management); sustainability and the law; sustainability and capital markets; operationalising sustainable practices; international and cross-cultural perspectives on sustainability; and international standards for sustainability.
Learning Outcomes
- understand relationships between sustainability, government policies and enterprise strategies;
- understand contemporary approaches to measuring and reporting the outcomes of enterprise sustainability strategies;
- recognise and understand the linkages between sustainability, value creation, risk and effective use of global resources;
- understand and critically evaluate sustainability and sustainable development concepts and issues.
