In this subject pre-service teachers will develop and explore styles and theories of teaching and learning. They will develop skills in the observation, planning and interpretation of practice and in responding appropriately to the diversity of student needs within an ethic of care and justice. The inquiry based learning cycles will encourage preservice teachers to form learning teams to assist the development of their professional understanding of the significance of classroom interactions as learning opportunities. Pre-service teachers' professional practice will include the development of teaching and learning activities, the management of small and large groups, the meeting of individual and special needs, the recognition of diversity within learning needs and outcomes and family and community involvement. Pre-service teachers are required to undertake 35 days of professional experience in educationalsettings, including a range of activities to develop understanding of the complexities of teacher's roles. This will culminate in planning, teaching, managing, assessing and evaluating a three week full time teaching load. Preservice teachers will also complete 50 hours of community education service.
