Students undertake a literature review of a nominated area of research and develop a research project proposal, on topics specified by SIT staff. Students are taught how to critically analyse papers for relevance and significance and to identify potential research projects. They do a presentation and seminar on their literature review and on their research proposal and submit written reports on both.
Learning Outcomes
- ability to conduct a literature review of scientific research;
- ability to determine from research papers relevance, significance and opportunities for further research;
- ability to draft a research proposal;
- appreciation of scientific research reporting methods.
