Advanced study in a selected area of Agricultural Science, based on a supervised research project, which may have experimental, observational, literature-based, or other approaches. Depending on students' abilities and requirements, the project may be organised through field/industrial placement, attachment to an appropriate research program at JCU or in a collaborating organisation, entirely independent studies or as group activities. It will be flexible to meet different needs, but will provide a suite of generic skills for all participants.

- Practical experience in a research environment, working closely with and learning from experienced researchers;
- Understanding of scales of knowledge by investigating a selected topic in depth.
