Available to students enrolled for the degrees of MSc; a two semester customised DipResMeth (in lieu of Masters Qual); MAppSc; BAppSc or Graduate Diplomas.
An analysis of selected current topics in animal behaviour, emphasizing the formulation and testing of hypotheses within field and laboratory situations. Selected topics include: the organization of complex systems, artificial life, population genetics and selection, sensory ecology, sexual selection and human sociobiology.
Learning Outcomes
- to further develop written, verbal and presentation skills;
- to understand how ecological and behavioural processes operate within an evolutionary framework;
- to understand how to propose and evaluate alternative hypotheses concerning the evolution of ecological and behavioural characteristics;
- to understand the process of natural selection and evolution.
