This subject explores the lives, experiences and achievements of Australian women in historical, cultural and contemporary contexts. Interdisciplinary in nature, the subject will draw on insights from a range of disciplines.

Learning Outcomes

• apply appropriate theoretical frameworks and concepts to the analysis of contemporary Australian womens lives;
• demonstrate an understanding of the historical and contemporary position of women in Australian society;
• discuss and critically evaluate key debates surrounding gender related issues;
• distinguish between major theoretical perspectives in womens studies.
