Available to Graduate Diploma of Tourism students and Master of Tourism students.
This subject introduces students to tourism structures, patterns and processes underlying the geography of world tourism. Employing a diverse range of case studies stemming from all continents, the subject provides a broad overview of international tourism destinations and their diverse tourism products. In particular, the historical, socio-cultural, environmental/ecological and political resource bases of a wide range of countries are reviewed within the context of global tourism trends.
Learning Outcomes
- to develop a knowledge of the locations, resources and trends of the tourism regions of the world;
- to understand the factors that influence international tourist flows;
- to apply the basic concepts of geography as a means of evaluating international tourism destinations;
- to enhance public speaking skills associated with the preparation and presentation of tourism information;
- to develop tourism information literacy and interpretation skills.
