This subject is the second of three subjects that comprise the research thesis. It can be in the form of a traditional thesis or as a combination of a literature review and manuscript in the format required of a publishable journal article. It should be an empirical study, supervised by a staff member, relating to an area of health or mental health. It may take the form of an experiment, a survey of some kind, an evaluation of the efficacy of an applied program, or a clinical within-subject study.
Learning Outcomes
- knowledge of the particular issues, including ethical concerns, associated with applied research;
- the development of research skills suitable for applied projects;
- the development of responsibility, independence and professionalism in undertaking an extended applied project;
- to reinforce the research orientation to applied practice.

- The ability to calculate, produce, interpret and communicate numerical information.
