This subject will provide knowledge of the types, validity and usefulness of program evaluation, plus training in techniques for assessing change. Attention will be paid to ethical standards for program evaluators. It will also address specific methods for clinical and health research including: epidemiological surveys, clinical case studies, experimental and quasi-experimental evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment and assessment techniques.
Learning Outcomes
- how to apply research techniques in clinical and health practice;
- to interpret and critically evaluate existing research in these areas;
- to recognise and utilise ethical standards of practice in research;
- to view problems of measurement and evaluation in objective and realistic terms.
