The invention of photography in the early years of the nineteenth century swept the reproduction of images into the machine age from the first experiments to capture an image of nature with a camera. This subject follows these early beginnings to the mid-twenthieth century through researching the history and discussing the work of pivotal photographers and the styles and contents of particular movements in photography. It also investigates developing technical advancements in photograhy and its place and impact within a changing society.
