This subject explores competing theoretical approaches and methodologies in political science. It examines the key approaches and methodologies used in the study of politics and evaluates contested approaches and methods, highlighting the value of using those approaches and methods to understand politics in the real world. The subject is not designed for political science students only, but for all students who wish to include an understanding of politics in their professional and daily lives.
Learning Outcomes
- to conceptualise about politics and to enhance analytic skills;
- to evaluate critically competing approaches and methods in the study of politics;
- to understand key theoretical and methodological aspects of the political science discipline.
