Available to BMus and BEd students.
Students will continue their ongoing study of tonal music theory and composition techniques and will undertake a study of jazz theory, composition and improvisation. Further studies in orchestration and arrangement are undertaken with a focus on brass instruments and jazz arrangement, along with further studies in the techniques of music anlaysis.
Learning Outcomes
- gain an understanding of techniques used in tonal music composition and analysis;
- gain a knowledge of the jazz ensemble,the manner in which music is composed and arranged for jazz ensembles and a knowledge of western brass instruments;
- gain an understanding of jazz and improvisation techniques and analysis.
