Derivatives of parametric functions; inverse functions and their derivatives; inverse trigonometric functions; hyperbolic functions; differentials; Newtons method; induction; convergence with simple test criteria; power series; complex numbers; numerical integration; basic integration techniques; separable and linear first order differential equations; second order differential equations with constant coefficients; matrix algebra; systems of linear equations; matrices and linear equations; existence of solutions and determinants.
Learning Outcomes
- to provide the opportunity for students to consider further elementary mathematical topics. Applications include examples drawn from the chemical, biological and environmental sciences. Computer software is used to assist with associated calculations.
