The key principles of the law of Evidence in criminal and civil proceedings with particular reference to burden and standard of proof, function of judge and jury, relevance and admissibility, judicial discretion, admissions, hearsay, confessions, circumstantial evidence, similar fact evidence, photographs and tape-recordings, business records, corroboration and privilege.
Learning Outcomes
- to attain at least a basic working knowledge of the key principles of evidence and some practical insights as to how they are applied in the preparation and conduct of criminal and civil proceedings.
