Available to Graduate Diploma of Education students only. NOTE: Professional Experience Block commences before beginning of Semester 2 - 9th July to 27 July.
In this subject pre-service teachers will develop and explore styles and theories of teaching and learning. They will develop skills in the observation, planning and interpretation of practice and in responding appropriately to the diversity of student needs. The inquiry based learning cycles will encourage students to form learning teams to assist the development of their professional understanding of the significance of classroom interactions as learning opportunities. Pre-service teachers' professional practice will include the development of teaching and learning activities, the management of small and large groups, the management of behaviour, the meeting of individual and special needs and the recognition of diversity within learning needs and outcomes. Pre-service teachers are required to undertake 175 hours of professional experience in educational settings completing a range of activities developing an understanding of the complexity of teachers' roles and the changes that occur over a semester.
