Available only to students enrolled in a Master of Teaching. Students should have completed 33 units of MTeach subjects, including 12 units in each teaching area from the first degree for secondary students, towards Master of Teaching.
This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the Master of Teaching program. Students will complete 5 (five) days of professional orientation, engaging in group visits to education settings and sessions with education leaders. Students will be allocated a school and attend for 25 allocated days, completing a range of activities to develop an understanding of the complexities of teachers roles and the changes that occur over the school semester. As a culminating experience, students will plan, teach and evaluate a full-time 3 (three) week block of teaching. In addition students will develop an understanding of the important link between the work of educators and a range of community education services (community education service 50 hours).
Learning Outcomes
- contribute to an education related community service;
- identify, analyse and support a range of learner differences in a school setting;
- participate ethically in a range of activities within a school setting;
- plan, teach, evaluate a minimum three week continuous full-time equivalent block across all F/KLAs in EC and primary, and full-time equivalent across both curriculum areas and including junior and senior in Secondary;
- use a repertoire of language and literacy skills for the teaching profession.
