ED2488 - Second Year Professional Experience

Available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Education with Honours or joint degrees with BEd and BEd(hons) and who have completed ED2491 and 6 credit points in each Secondary Area of Teaching for Secondary students enrolled in ED2488.

This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the BEd program. In schools and professional settings relevant to their specialist sector (Early Childhood, Primary, or Secondary), students will compile a portfolio of materials based on purposeful observations, data gathering, planning, teaching, and managing learning environments within an ethic of care, and where appropriate in multi-age contexts. Students will collaborate, co-plan and co-teach with school-based teacher educators, starting with small groups and leading to whole class teaching episodes. By the end of professional experience, students will have taught not less than 14 lessons. Students are strongly encouraged to undertake this professional experience block in a rural or remote area. In addition, students will begin to develop an understanding of the important link between the work of educators and a range of community education services (15 hours community education service).
