This is a project based subject whereby students will learn to effectively apply academic skills. The subject content will be structured around a three stage process: 1. Project design and preparation 2. Conducting a survey or interview 3. Documenting and reporting research findings.
Learning Outcomes
- develop reading, writing and research skills relevant for academic study;
- gain skills in the process of project development from the design, research to the writing/presentation stage;
- develop the skill of designing a survey with interview questions and understanding these in relation to ethical considerations;
- develop library, internet and empirical research skills;
- develop skills in the use of appropriate syntax, grammar and vocabulary in writing a mini- literature review and a report.

- The ability to use a variety of media and methods to retrieve, analyse, evaluate, organise and present information;
- The ability to think critically, to analyse and evaluate claims, evidence and arguments, and to reason and deploy evidence clearly and logically;
- The ability to generate, calculate, interpret and communicate numerical information in ways appropriate to a given discipline or discourse.
