A two week intensive subject providing students with an understanding of the relationship between animal form and function. It includes one week of lectures and laboratories, and a week of field studies allowing students to develop the necessary theoretical and practical skills. Students will gain experience working with a diversity of animal groups (normally including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects) in a variety of habitats (both terrestrial and marine).

Learning Outcomes

• adaptation of morphology and function (including behaviour) for particular physical and biological conditions;
• basic methods in field zoology and project reporting collecting and handling of animals; data recording and processing; analysis and reporting;
• the taxonomic and morphological diversity of the animal kingdom.
