Available, at the discretion of the Head of College, to all students with a BVA or equivalent qualification undertaking the BVA Honours (Practice) degree. Except with the approval of the Head of School/Associate Dean, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.

Students will undertake a number of tasks relating to the analysis of creating practice, process and product.

Learning Outcomes

• become competent in a range of research techniques;
• become familiar with advanced method and theory within the students field of specialisation;
• develop a critical appraisal and evaluation of current literature in the visual arts;
• further the students abilities in working as an independent researcher and artist by following an individual program or research.

Prerequisites:	Distinction level in either VA3601, VA3801 or VA3901 and credit level in VA3131, VA3230
Inadmissible Subject Combinations:	VA4001 and VA4011 and VA4021

Availabilities
As this subject is part of a subject chain, a final standard grade (e.g. P, C) will only be recorded for each subject after successful completion of all parts of the subject chain.
