This subject provides an important overview of tourism in Australia. In particular, it focuses on the government structures and organizations that influence how the industry operates and the challenges and issues facing the industry. In addition, the diverse product base and potential of Australia are examined. As well as providing students with very practical knowledge about how the industry works, the subject develops useful teamwork and oral and written presentation skills, which are all critical to success when working in the tourism industry.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the Australian tourism product and industry structure, trends and challenges;
- demonstrate practical report writing, teamwork and oral presentation skills;
- identify and analyse the tourism product available to domestic and international tourists.
