Students will complete the study of normal development that was begun in SS1113 by studying the developmental pathways in the school age years and adolescence and have the opportunity to study, in depth, a number of areas of abnormal childhood and adolescent development.
Learning Outcomes
- demonstrate an understanding of the issues involved in foetal alcohol syndrome, Down Syndrome, Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, adolescent eating disorders, adolescent suicide;
- demonstrate knowledge of the developmental pathways involved in: prenatal development and birth; social and personality development in infancy and toddlerhood; cognitive, social and personality development at school age, and social and personality development in adolescence.
