Enrolment in this subject is restricted to all students enrolled in the Bachelor of Speech Pathology
The first component of this subject will prepare students for clinical practice in the areas of: professional behaviour, managing client interactions; clinical procedures; assessment and intervention procedures; session planning, implementation and evaluation; and clinical reasoning. Processes involved in student clinical placements and evaluation of clinical skills will be explained. A second component to this subject will develop knowledge of hearing impairments across the lifespan.
Learning Outcomes
- Students will demonstrate and apply knowledge and skills in: client and clinician behaviours relevant and appropritate to the clincal context; the processes of clinical practice including case history taking, report writing, referrals etc; counselling, session planning and clinical reasoning; processes for administration, scoring and interpretation of standardised assessments; interpreting hearing assessments; screening for hearing impairments; culurally appropriate clinical practices.
