This subject will equip students with further skills in the application of cognitive behavioural and behavioural therapeutic methods. Topics will include issues relevant to the practice of psychology in rural and remote regions of Australia, as well as approaches to the treatment of more complex disorders such as addictions, co-morbid conditions and psychosis.
Learning Outcomes
- to become familiar with ethical issues involved in practice with people of other cultures;
- to become familiar with methods of remote delivery of services;
- to become proficient in dealing with matters affecting physical and mental health in rural regions;
- to have increased knowledge of more severe forms of psychological disturbance such as psychosis, addictions, or other complex disorders, including methods of treatment;
- to show increased awareness of cultural issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
