Available to level 2 Occupational Therapy students.
This subject will introduce students to the current theories and practice of occupational therapy intervention with client groups within the public, private and non-government systems. Topics include group management approaches, program development; evaluation, measuring occupational performance, group processes and team skills. Skills in the analysis, application and adaptation of goal directed activity will be consolidated through conducting group activities with community organisations.
Learning Outcomes
- analyse, apply and adapt activity for a variety of individual clients and groups;
- describe and select a range of appropriate activities/occupations for people of different ages, abilities and cultures;
- describe strategies for time and stress management and for working professionally as part of a team;
- demonstrate knowledge and skills in group and team process and function;
- demonstrate knowledge of legislation regulating the practice of occupational therapy for client groups;;
- demonstrate knowledge of the processes of group leadership analyse, apply and adapt activity for a variety of individual clients and groups;;
- demonstrate the ability to market occupational therapy programs;
- apply knowledge on occupational performance to provision of occupational therapy services.
