This subject will introduce the student to nursing assessment of the major physiological and emotional disruptions to health status associated with ageing. Critical exemplars in case study format will be used to illustrate symptomatology, client presentation and fundamental assessment skills.
Learning Outcomes
- complete a systematic and comprehensive assessment of the health status of an aged client in the physical, psychological, social, emotional and functional domains;
- explore issues in the assessment and interviewing of aged clients, their families and significant others which may impact the conduct and outcome of assessment;
- identify major disruptions to the physical and emotional health of the aged client;
- utilise a range of clinical tools to facilitate accurate and reliable assessment and reporting of health status.
