This subject continues the study of integrated medical and social sciences for the whole human body. The emphasis is on integrating knowledge of clinical pathology with an approach to gathering and interpreting clinical information from patients. By the end of Year 4 the student will be expected to be able take patient histories, examine patients, seek relevant laborotory and imaging investigations and put this information together to determine what disease processes are and how they are experienced.
Learning Outcomes
- describe the pathological basis of common and/or important human diseases;
- determine and interpret an appropriate range of clinical investigations relevant to each patient problem;
- further understand the personal and professional roles of medical practitioners;
- generate a list of health care problems that patients may have;
- take a focused history from and conduct a focused examination on patients with a range of health problems.
