Available to graduates who have achieved a credit average in relevant third year subjects in an undergraduate degree at this University and have shown an ability to apply mathematical ideas to their discipline. Graduates from other universities with equivalent qualifications will be considered for acceptance. Except with the approval of the Head of School/Associate Dean, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.

The Honours in Mathematical Sciences program is intended for students whose undergraduate major is not in Mathematics, but who have a major in another science (or related) discipline and want to carry out a project where mathematical techniques can be applied to that area. As part of the program, students will need to acquire mathematical skills that are appropriate to the project. Most students will also be directed to study subjects within the School at an upper undergraduate or postgraduate level in order to obtain these skills. Students eligible to do Mathematics Honours will be encouraged to take the Mathematics Honours option.
