This subject problematises the use and development of technology. Topics include: technology as a socio-technical system; new technologies - upsides/downsides; innovation and technological change; creativity, commercialisation and innovation; protection of intellectual knowledge; technological/innovation strategies and business models; sustaining and disruptive work technologies - the innovators dilemma; cross cultural construction of technology and innovation.
Learning Outcomes
- understand competition and government regulations of technology and innovation;
- understand contemporary theories relating to technology and innovation in business enterprises;
- recognise and understand the linkages between technology, innovation and business strategies and models;
- understand the problems and possibilites of technology and innovation in the contemporary world.
