This subject will provide students with the ability to analyse and identify opportunities for information system support in business activities in both small and large organisation settings. An emphasis will be on the use of information systems for the support of decision making in an uncertain environment, to improve management and achieve competitive advantage. Students will be able to attain the knowledge required to work closely, from a management perspective, with computing professionals in the identification, specification, deployment, planning and management of robust and sustainable information systems that underpin eBusiness.
Learning Outcomes
- understand the role of information technology (IT) as an enabler in business process change, organisational transformation and strategic advantage;
- understand the role of business data, information and knowledge in organisations and how to apply data warehousing, mining and visualisation techniques to access and manage data for decision making;
- understand the role of IT governance to achieve strategic consistent deployment;
- critically discuss contemporary information systems management challenges and issues including ethics, privacy and security;
- of IT across an organisation in alignment with the organisation¬ᆲ"s business objectives.
