An introduction to the principles and skills of broadcast journalism, to the daily operation of broadcast news and to real-time writing for the ear. The subject prepares students for broadcast studio work, and includes broadcast newsgathering, newswriting, interviewing techniques, digital editing and news presenting.

Learning Outcomes

• to efficiently operate digital recording and editing equipment;
• to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of broadcast news gathering and production processes;
• to prepare news copy to a professional standard;
• to identify, gather and record broadcast material to professional standard both within a studio environment and in the field.
