The subject aims to develop an understanding and appreciation of the importance of interpersonal skills in nursing practice. The focus is the beginning development of effective communication skills and helping behaviours within the context of a therapeutic interpersonal relationship.
Learning Outcomes
- assess written and oral presentation style;
- describe the importance of effective communication in the health profession;
- develop personal goals for improving communication skills;
- identify and analyse ones own interpersonal communication style;
- outline the key components of the communication process.
