Available to students enrolled in the BCommunication Design degree.
A series of lectures and workshops exploring the design of multi-page brochures, with a regional focus on tourism publications. Particulr emphasis will be placed on methodology and work flow practices involved in creating large scale publications, and as such students will develop planning, organization and media control skills. Studies will include introduction to page layout applications, template design, style sheets, typography, image manipulation, stock photography, cover design, PDF creation and preparation of files for print
Learning Outcomes
- demonatrate an understanding of digital pre-press processes and substantial creative skills;
- develop a range of organisational and analytical skills relevant to employment in the design profession and achieve a level of technical proficiency appropriate for entry level professional practice;
- ability to liaise with pre-press, production and print professionals and prepare, interpret and complete pre-press documentation;
- ability to design full colour brochures from planning through to a print ready stage;
- demonstrate an understanding of converting print based publication for online use.

Special Assessment Requirements: | In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer. |
