Planning and Print for multimedia. This is the first unit of a six semester advanced program for students studying a multimedia major within the Bachelor of Communication Design. Students enrolled in this subject will undertake a series of lectures, tutorials and practical exercises designed to develop a broad understanding of the function, philosophy and role of multimedia within contemporary society.Students will develop expertise in a range of design related skills and technologies and will examine several concept building techniques that underpin the development of multimedia. This will also include the design and production of a range of 2D design print pieces, which would typically be used as support for CD/DVD projects.Through a series of practical exercises, students will be introduced to a range of issues which must be considered before the commencement of a multimedia project with an emphasis on the development of costing and production schedules for multimedia.
Learning Outcomes
- analyse and respond via appropriate design for specific markets;
- apply appropriate and creative design solutions to given problems and follow these solutions through several production phases in a manner suited to the selected production process;
- create suitable flowcharts and storyboards to explain their vision;
- extract and reformat resources from existing digital documents;
- use a range of technologies to enter resources including digital cameras and scanners;
- utilise available computer software and information resources at an appropriate level for creative, research and technical purposes.

Special Assessment Requirements: | In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer. |
