This is an essential subject for students wishing to become effective professionals. It focuses on teamwork and group interaction in the context of the environmental professional. Topics include: group development; processes and dynamics; developing the basis of interaction skills including conflict resolution and decision making. It provides an introduction to the use of tools and resources of group work.

Learning Outcomes

• understand what are the essential attributes of effective teams;
• know how to participate in or chair effective, outcome-driven meetings;
• know the most effective strategies that you can use to get on with - at times difficult - team members;
• have some basic knowledge of group dynamics;
• have some knowledge and experience of the processes and procedures required to undertake a successful team project;
• know your own strengths and weaknesses in contributing to your team's work.
