Available to BA and BSc students who are accepted by the Head of School into the honours program. Students who have not completed an introductory statistical methods subject will be required to take such a subject as a corequisite. Except with the approval of the Head of School/Associate Dean, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.

The School of Tropical Environment Studies and Geography has a broad academic base and provides honours in Spatial Analysis, Physical Geography, Environmental Studies and Human Geography. These are not mutually exclusive, as interdisciplinary studies are encouraged both within TESAG and with other schools in the University. The aim of the honours degree is to develop and assess the ability of a student to undertake independent research. Honours in Human Geography provides opportunities for further studies, and for research into a topic that interests the student. The work is a combination of coursework, a seminar presentation, research proposal, literature review and a 15,000 word thesis.
