Student Contribution Band: | Band 2 |
Administered by: |
Three phase systems, Rotating fields and armature windings, Polyphase and single phase induction motors, Synchros and stepper motors. Steady state characteristics of synchronous machines. Parameters of transmission lines, Circle diagram, Transmission line transients, Symmetrical components and their networks.
Learning Outcomes
- be able to manipulate the equations governing power transmission lines and so show competence in the various levels of modelling available;
- demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental concepts of power system transients and their analysis techniques;
- from a detailed knowledge of their characteristics, be able to analyse the steady state performance of induction and synchronous machines.
