This subject introduces the Egan Skilled Helper model of Problem Management and Opportunity Development. Students will develop an understanding of Egan's three stage counselling process. The foundation microskills used particularly in the first stage of counselling will also be covered. It marks the beginning of your journey into the practice of counselling.

- describe and evaluate basic counselling microskills.
