Available only to students enrolled in the Master of Guidance and Counselling.
Utilising the Integrated Developmental Model (IDM) (Stolenberg, McNeill & Delworth, 1998) of counsellor development, this subject is designed to meet the accreditation requirements of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). Field-based placements assist the novice counsellor to develop the skills necessary for quality ethical practice. Students are supported to negotiate placement/s appropriate to their intended counselling practice and are monitored throughout.
Learning Outcomes
- ability to critically reflect on ones own and others counselling practice to facilitate individual and team skill development;
- achievement of development as a counsellor to a Level 1 (IDM) standard, with evidence of (or ability to) transition into Level 2;
