Available to students enrolled in the Graduate Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching.
This subject is part of the developmental curriculum for professional experience within the Graduate Bachelor of Education program. Students will complete 5 (five) days of professional orientation which may include engaging in group visits to education settings and seminars with education leaders. In addition, students will be allocated a school and attend for 25 allocated days, completing a range of activities to develop an understanding of the complexities of teachers roles and the changes that occur over the school semester. As a culminating experience, students will plan, teach and evaluate a full-time 3 (three) week block of teaching. In addition, students will develop an understanding of the important link between the work of educators and a range of community education services (community education service 50 hours).
Learning Outcomes
- use a repertoire of language and literacy skills appropriate to the teaching profession;
- contribute to an education related community service;
- identify, analyse and support a range of learner differences in a school setting;
- participate ethically in a range of activities within a school setting;
- plan, teach, evaluate a minimum 3 (three) week continuous full-time equivalent block across all F/KLAs in Early Childhood and Primary, and full- time equivalent across both curriculum areas and including junior and senior in Secondary.
