This subject offers international students the opportunity to have supported and structured teaching experience in Queensland schools. Students will proceed through an initial orientation phase of lectures. These will introduce students to school and syllabus requirements in the Queensland context, including the challenges confronting teachers in implementing an outcomes based approach to planning for diverse student needs. In schools and educational centres, students will work collaboratively, taking progressively more responsibility, with school-based teacher educators to develop skills and knowledge to plan, teach and evaluate lessons and units, culminating in a three week full-time teaching block.
Learning Outcomes
- compare and contrast the school education system in Australia and other countries;
- identify the key aspects of the Queensland and Australian education system;
- successfully complete professional experience in school setttings, including a range of structured activities.
