This subject explores a variety of modern approaches to music education and ways in which music can be integrated with other subject areas. It examines new music technologies used to enhance and facilitate music learning and teaching. A focus on musicianship and creativity permeates the study.
Learning Outcomes
- Acquire and evaluate a broad repertoire of materials, techniques and teaching strategies useful for teaching music in P-10 classroom contexts;
- Increased knowledge of and skills using representative music software and hardware utilised to assist classroom music instruction;
- Develop appropriate use of electronic tools (music notation software, sequencing software, synthesizers/electronic keyboards, iPods and other music applications/devices) for effective learning and teaching;
- Utilise creative music techniques applicable to a broad range of classroom music teaching practice.
