This subject introduces students to a study of the history of the visual and performing arts and their relationships with developments in Western societies and cultures. Focussing on art, music, and theatre in particular, with reference to social conditions and developments of various eras, students gain both a historical perspective and a sound basis upon which to evaluate and reflect upon current times and current practices in the creative and performing arts.

In order to pass this subject you must: Obtain an overall mark of 50% or more; Achieve a mark of at least 40% over all invigilated assessment items & Attempt each assessment item
